Galleries and artists get ready! The Art Dubai has annoncments for you to take into consideration. First of all the Art Dubai 2013 dates is revealed: The 7th edition of the fair takes place March 20-23at Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai. So mark your calendar for that!

Secondly and most important, Art Dubai is currently accepting proposals from galleries interested in participating in the 2013 fair. Applications are open to contemporary art galleries working in the primary market and established for more than two years. In 2012, the fair featured 75 galleries from 32 countries – from the world’s most established galleries to dynamic young artspaces; the fair is recognised as one of the most globalised of meeting points in the art world today.

All applications are reviewed by Art Dubai’s Selection Committee. This process is competitive, and we strongly recommend that applications are submitted on time. The Selection Committee discusses each application, basing their final selection on the curatorial strength of the gallery exhibition programme and the gallery’s submitted proposal. Application deadline: September 10, 2012. Accepted galleries will be informed of the Committee’s decision by mid-October.

I think the benchmark that has been set for two years of being in the art industry in order to be eligible to apply for the annual Dubai art fair is kind of limiting. There are many talented artists that open galleries which take off quite well within a few months and it would be a great opportunity if such artists were also given the chance to have their work featured in the Dubai art fair.
I agree with you Ethan ,, special packages can be offered for independent artists and new galleries. But it is also worth trying to apply
